Temporary Break

Friday, July 30, 2010

I know I haven't been posting much lately, but long story short my grandma was admitted to the hospital and was diagnosed with cancer. We are waiting to see how far along the cancer is and if it's terminal. I probably won't be posting for the next week or two. Please keep her in your prayers.

I would love a wardrobe full of j.crew

I know this has been all over the internet, but can I just say how much I love j.crew and the video they made for their most recent collection?

Literary Inspirations - The Wizard of Oz

Tuesday, July 13, 2010

This week's literary inspiration is The Wizard of Oz by L. Frank Baum

Blue and white checked dresses - so smart of you to dress in munchkin and good witch colors - along with magical silver shoes will make you quite the fashionista on your way to the Emerald City. (Fact: the original shoes were silver, they were changed to ruby red in the 1939 movie because they would show up better on screen! Did I just wrench your world apart with the true color of the shoes and now your life is meaningless because all this time it's been a lie? Well um sorry, but I included some red sparkly nail polish called Ruby Slipper to ease your suffering.) Follow the yellow brick road with your trusty dog, Toto, and a picnic basket to carry food in. Just make sure you watch out for fields of poppies that put you to sleep, and always keep a pail of water on hand to melt evil witches!

This pretty much sums up my life right now

Allie over at at Hyperbole and a Half may or may not have been writing about my life when she wrote this post, because man that's how I've been feeling for the last few weeks: This is Why I'll Never be an Adult

That also pretty much the reason I haven't posted anything in a while.

P.S. Also, I love that blog and it's absolutely hilarious, so beware - you may lose a few hours of your life reading all the older posts.

Strawberry Fest

Tuesday, July 6, 2010

A week ago I participated in my first show, a local Strawberry Festival. It was fantastic. Thank you everyone who stopped by and welcome to those who discovered this blog and the site from the fest!

It was a bit of a surprise, I had applied but hadn't heard anything back. Then a week before the festival the organizers called and said they had a last minute drop out and would I like the space? Um yes! So with only a few days to go before the fest I  ran around renting a tent, having a sign made, getting postcards printed, and generally organizing everything for a little shop.  But even though I was rushed, I think it turned out quite nice!

I know I've fallen behind on my posting this week

Thursday, July 1, 2010

I'm sorry about that. It's been absolutely crazy around here. Last weekend the boutique had its first show at a local festival - it went great and as soon as I have time to get pictures up I'll write about it - and then I started my new job this week. The training is going very well so far, but I've had to move my morning alarm from 7:15 AM to 6:05 AM. Blah. I've been dead tired this whole week since I'm still getting used to the new sleeping schedule. Luckily it's the 4th of July this weekend and I'll have a few days to chill out and recharge. We should be back to a regular posting schedule next week. I have some stories about the fair to tell!
